Nicknamed “The Lady,” Aung San Suu Kyi is a Nobel Peace Laureate, head of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Party, and an outstanding proponent of democracy in Burma. She is currently serving a position in the lower house of representatives, called “Pyithu Hluttaw.” She has been awarded the Sakharov Prize Laureate, as well as a United States Congressional Gold Medal.
Sylvester Stallone, also known as Sly Stallone, is best known for his role as Rocky Balboa in the “Rocky” movies, and has won three Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Directing, and Best Screenplay. He also played John Rambo in the “Rambo” movies and Barney Ross in “The Expendables,” and starred in other movies such as “Cliffhanger” and “Demolition Man.”
Amazingly, Nick Vujicic was born with no arms or legs; being an evangelist, philanthropist, motivational speaker and author of the bestsellers “Life Without Limits” and “Unstoppable” are just some of his accomplishments, aside from founding the organization “Life Without Limbs.” He has done all this without limbs – with only “his little chicken drumstick,” as he jokingly says.
Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton first came to the world’s attention in 2003, at the age of thirteen, when she was attacked by a tiger shark while surfing and lost her left arm; amazingly, she returned to surfing only three weeks later. She is evangelist, occasional actress, motivational speaker and the bestselling author of “Soul Surfer,” a memoir which was adapted to a biopic film in 2011. She continues to surf to this day.
Nelson Mandela, a Nobel laureate, who is commonly referred to as Madiba is considered to be the father of South Africa being the first black South African to serve as its President from 1994 to 1999 in an all conclusive, fully representative, democratically–elected government.
